Do you actually know what your internet speed you REALLY get? In Malaysia, despite the advertised high-speed internet, most user users experiencing either “slow” or “good enough” internet speed. Unless your area already have Unifi (Malaysia’s first consumer fiber-optic broadband) and capable to their billing scheme, surely you are happy with your internet speed. But for most users, we have a lot to complaint about internet speed and the downtime we facing recurringly. Not forgetting for mobile broadband users, 3G and WiMAX (Not real 4G) networks are yet to mature enough for the mass market.
Royal Pingdom recently published the summary of Top 50 countries average internet speeds, based on the REAL connection speeds user received at their end point. Their research data is provided by Akamai, the world largest CDN provider that has servers all over the world. In the research, you can compare Malaysia internet speed compare to the Top 50 countries. It is good enough that we already in the Top 50 countries, but speed-wise could be better. Malaysia has a long way to go for “High Speed Internet”, so for those internet providers, stop calling your internet “high speed”.
