It’s just quite recently that Google updates their top navigation bar with black colour, now they update it again to make it better. Removing clutter in top space of the site, now links to other Google sites are available via mouse hover on the Google logo. It is also an effort to make Google+ integrated seamlessly with all of other Google sites, so users can easily share virtually any sites or contents while they are within Google network sites.
The new Google bar is currently being rolled out to selected users, and should be available to all users soon as they already annouce it. But sometimes, we just can’t wait right? No worries, for those have not got updated yet, there’s a way to get the Google bar now… via a simple hack of course.
How to force updated to new Google bar
Open your browser console. No plugins needed. If using Firefox use shortcut key
Ctrl+Shift+K or Chrome with
Ctrl+Shift+J. Internet Explorer users are out of luck. Just type in the codes below, don’t worry nothing scary here, just overiding your browser’s cookie preference settings.
On main Google.com site
document.cookie="PREF=ID=03fd476a699d6487:U=88e8716486ff1e5d:FF=0:LD=en:CR=2:TM=1322688084:LM=1322688085:S=McEsyvcXKMiVfGds; domain=.google.com; path=/; expires=" + (new Date("2013-12-1")).toUTCString()
While if using Google Malaysia, use this code.
document.cookie="PREF=ID=03fd476a699d6487:U=88e8716486ff1e5d:FF=0:LD=en:CR=2:TM=1322688084:LM=1322688085:S=McEsyvcXKMiVfGds; domain=.google.com.my; path=/; expires=" + (new Date("2013-12-1")).toUTCString()
Note: This hack may not work for logged-in Google Apps user. It will take time to eventually rolled out.
